The Industrial Relations Bill Picture

The 1970 Industrial Relations Bill (to become the 1971 Act) made many traditional trade union activities illegal. It lead to the imprisonment of five dockers by the National Industrial Relations Court. A call by the TUC for a national one-day strike resulted in the dockers being freed - and saw off the effective implementation of the Act.
